Rangers in Scottish cup stalemate..

Rangers treble dream remains intact after a dour goalless draw in Paisley. It certainly wasn’t a classic and I almost wish I hadn’t interrupted my nightshift sleep to watch it. Cup manager Ally McCoist made 4 changes to the side which reached the CIS final during the week. Allan McGregor replaced Neil Alexander in goal, Kirk Broadfoot and Madjid Bougherra returned in defence while Steven Naismith was rewarded with a rare start after impressing from the bench on Wednesday night. Lee McCulloch was given the armband in the absence of the suspended Davie Weir. Read full article.

Rangers reach first cup final of the season.

Rangers reached yet another Cup Final with a 2-0 victory over St Johnstone at a wintry Hampden. In many ways it was a strange game with the Saints being the better team for long periods of the game in front of a sparse crowd of 17,000. There were 2 changes to Saturdays team, with Neil Alexander getting a shot in goals, while Stevie Smith started in place of Sasa Papac. Read full article.

Dont panic fellow bears.

Is your glass half full or half empty after the transfer window closed last night? It would be churlish to deny that the Mhanks are now stronger than they were earlier in the season. Keane & Kamara will score goals in the SPL, and although questions remain about their defence, and how quickly if ever all these new players settle in, its reasonable to assume that they will drop less points in the remainder of the season than they have done previously. The Gers march on..Rangers v Falkirk match report.

Rangers v Hearts match report.

A late equaliser from substitute Andy Little gave Rangers what could be a valuable point yesterday at Ibrox in what was a hugely frustrating match against an ultra defensive Hearts team. Despite having virtually all of the play, our lack of striking options finally cost us as we struggled to break down the Jambo’s back line. With the injured Kenny Miller and Nacho Novo injured, Walter was forced to field Kyle Lafferty as striker, with John Fleck playing just behind him. Read full article.

Rangers leave it late in cup replay.

Rangers huffed and puffed for over 90 minutes, but eventually a Steven Whittaker double in extra time finally blew down the Accies resistance. Rangers should have won the match comfortably in normal time, but a combination of great goalkeeping, bad finishing, and the woodwork frustrated the smallest crowd that Ibrox has seen this season (21,856). A watching Kris Boyd would surely have filled his boots tonight with the chances created. There were 3 changes to Saturdays line up, with Kenny Miller, Lee McCulloch and John Fleck starting in place of Broadfoot, Edu and the ill Kyle Lafferty. There was also a change in formation with Miller as the lone striker, and Fleck, Davis and Novo in behind him in a 4-2-3-1 formation. Continue reading

Rangers go 10 points clear in title race.

A late goal from new father Nacho Novo gave Rangers a vital 3 points at New Douglas Park. Given the fact that we were missing our first pick strikers, and were short of both quality and width in midfield it was no surprise that this was a million miles from the performances in December. Rangers and Hamilton in cup cracker..

Rangers live to fight another day in an extraordinary cup tie at New Douglas Park. It was a freaky match and in all honesty Accies probably deserved a replay. Cup manager McCoist made one change from last Sunday with Kenny Miller returning in place of the injured Nacho Novo. Rangers got off to a dream start when Steven Whittaker lashed home after 3 minutes following a goalmouth stramash.. Continue reading

Rangers v Celtic match report.

A stunning Lee McCulloch header 10 minutes from time gave Rangers a priceless point at the tattiedome to preserve the 7 points lead at the top of the SPL. Despite having to field an understrength team, and a referee only capable of pointing the one direction, this was a truly awful performance from Rangers, one of the worse I have ever seen at the phiggery.
