Kyle Lafferty celebratesWith the prospect of a nervy ninety minutes on the last day of the season the noisy Gers support were put at ease as earlier as the fifth minute when Lafferty was on the end of Steven Davis' cross to bundle the ball home and give his side the advantage. As half time approached with rivals Celtic still level at home to Hearts the light blues fans were in dreamland in the last minute of the first half when Mendes latched on to a clearance to fire home with his left foot low in to the bottom corner. Just six minutes in to the second half Walter Smith's side effectively wrapped up their title success when Boyd grabbed his 31st of the season from Steven Whittaker's right wing cross. There were chances to add to the scoreline but with a comfortable lead the travelling support made the most of the chance to revel in the imminent return to Ibrox of the SPL title.Championees.
